The Dark Secret of Hendrik Schoen

I saw this on TV today and it is very interesting.

"Imagine a world where disease could be eradicated by an injection of tiny robots the size of molecules. That is the hope offered by nanotechnology, the science of microscopically small machines. But some fear nanotechnology could lead to a non-biological cancer where swarms of tiny nanobots come together and literally devour human flesh. Sounds like science fiction? It certainly did until a brilliant young scientist called Hendrik Schoen made a computer transistor out of a single organic molecule. It was an achievement of almost incalculable brilliance. Some speculated this technology could spell the end of the entire silicon chip industry. Crucially, Schoen's transistor was organic, the first step towards true nanotechnology where minute computers could grow as living cells. Scientists speculated about how these tiny machines could be used to target diseases with astonishing precision. Others wondered about military uses for them as a new weapon. Some, including Prince Charles, were terrified. If these machines can grow by themselves, how do we stop them from growing? What happened next would destroy reputations and shatter lives because there was more to Hendrik Schoen's discovery than anyone knew."-http://tvguide.ninemsn.com.au/guide/

That show triggered my curiousity so I went and "answers.com" it.

Funny Article

I found this on some Muay Thai forum.

My 1st Lady Boy Experience
Author: johnny
Category: Life in Thailand
Uploaded: 10th Sep 2006 (viewed 230 times)

On my 1st trip to Thailand a couple of years ago I didn’t really know much about the country and the culture but after India and China I didn’t expect anything special ….

Was I wrong, as I found out in Sukothai after meeting a crazy Irish man, called Johnny, just like me. The first evening we had a couple of beers together and as he was living in Thailand for quite a while and trained Muay Thai with some soldiers at the army barracks nearby, he invited me to join the training the next day, which I did. Now these guys were in a really good shape and for me it was really very hard not only because of the humid climate but also because I had been hanging around in Asia for quite a while without doing any sports except some Mountain biking and Tai Chi in China. So after making me suffer the whole afternoon (and hurting my soft and “virgin” shins for the first time) they decided to take me out for some beers that night and we went from one bar to the next, stopping occasionally at some karaoke place drinking all the time. By the time we came into a kind of “Hard Rock” place I was already quite drunk. Not only did they continue ordering drinks, they bought some grass and smoked it right there, too.

There was this waitress looking into my red and confused eyes and smiling every time she brought something to our table (which happened every 10 minutes or so). After a couple of rounds she decided to sit down next to me and start a small talk conversation. Not that much, as her English was worse then mine and I was the only one on the table unable to speak Thai. When we didn’t have anything more to talk about and she was still sitting next to me smiling warmly and happily all the time. I asked Irish Johnny to tell her that I am the poorest guy of Italy first: she still stayed and smiled, then I told him to tell that I really don’t feel like ending the night with a bar girl and that I have never paid for sex and didn’t want to start that night. Still she stayed there and Irish Johnny told me, its all fine, she just likes you and the way you look stoned …

After a while that place closed down and as everybody was leaving with a girl and I also because I couldn't remember where the hell my guesthouse was, I accepted her invitation to her place, which happened to be just around the corner. Once we'd arrived, she started smoking some red pills on silver paper (this was the famous/infamous “yaa-ba”) which I tried too, but I was already gone so I didn’t feel any extra-high. Then she started kissing me all over, taking my clothes off and ended with a GREAT blow job. By the time I felt my whole body vibrating and my ejaculation coming, I stopped her, started kissing her too and told her something like “This is so great, now its my turn to give you back the pleasure”. As if I had told her I was going to kill her, the expression in her face changed completely and she said “wait a moment ….. I must tell you something …”

I was completely stoned, hungry for sex, still vibrating from my ears to my toes, ready to come faster then a rabbit – and she had to tell me “something” ….

I imagined she could have a disease, maybe she just wanted to make sure I used a condom, maybe she was a virgin (nah!), maybe ….

“I m not a girl” was the bomb that brought me back from ecstasy, down to earth... I stared at her/him/it, whatever, unwilling to believe it until I saw there was something that should not be there … Bleah! I vomited all over the place and left shocked and disgusted. He followed me and tried to change my mind but no way. I only stopped to recommend him not to do something like this again because it could lead to getting badly beaten up by someone. He told me this had happened a few times already…. I felt compassion but I was still disgusted and went to search for my guesthouse.

The next day I found out that Irish Johnny and his friends knew already what I had discovered the last night: that this waiter wasn’t a girl but a transvestite and that there are a lot of trannies in Thailand.

Kemahiran Hidup

Sue Ann asked me about my old speakers because she wanted to buy from me. Since it's been sitting around and wasting space. I'd give it to her, but then Heffy kinda chewed off the cable so now the speakers can't even be switch on.

I decided to fix it myself. I know it's pretty easy to fix it. Just join the wires to the same colour. In Malaysia, I fix my house telephone all the time. Thanks to the stupid inefficient Telekom, I picked up a pretty good skill.

After about half an hour, It's done. The speaker is back to life again. Alive and doofing way.

It is quite therapeutic.

Good bye Henty House

I'm feeling abit emo right now. Time really flies. It felt like it was just yesterday that I moved in with Amelin.

Before
After

I remember complaining to Mindy that the new place got no internet yet.

Trying hard to fall asleep in the new room, new house.

This evening, the movers came to move my things to Rathdowne Street, my new place. Amelin found a new housemate to move in, that's why I had to move my things almost immediately.

After packing away all my unwanted stuff, I stopped by Salvation Army to drop off some stuff. It was 11pm, the whole process looked as if I was dropping off a bomb in front of a shop. But it felt really good to donate. Those things that I don't want anymore may be a life saver to someone. There were a few bags that I don't use anymore, jackets and sweaters that I can't fit in anymore.

I really felt heavy hearted when I left the place. A lot of things took place at that apartment.

Vel's Birthday

Ivy's Birthday

Mahjong Sessions

Amelin is the best housemate anyone could have. She really made the house a "house". She's damn good at cooking too. My favourite is her minced pork with tofu! A good listener. But still need Moster's advices and protection at times. Yea, Monster and Shorty is our nicknames for each other. Besides, we also like to leave notes on the toilet's door or on the mirror. Really gonna miss you :(. Anyway, thank you for everything, Shorty.

Before I left,
Me: "It was nice staying with you."
Amelin: "Nice staying with you too."

The paradox of our time in history

I really enjoy SueAnn's blog. This is 1 of her recent entry which I think it's worth sharing.

The paradox of our time in history

by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that
we have taller buildings but shorter tempers,
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints,
we spend more, but have less,
we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families,
more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much,
smoke too much,
spend too recklessly,
laugh too little,
drive too fast,
get too angry,
stay up too late,
get up too tired,
read too little,
watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever,
but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion,
big men and small character,
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,
throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

Final Decision

Signed

After sleeping on it for a few nights. I've come to a decision to leave Melbourne. It's not easy, but I'm just gonna let where ever life brings me to. I have always believed in 'everything happens for a reason'. I really hope that this is the right start for my career path.

The DHL delivery guy will come pick the documents up by Wednesday. After that, all I got to do is just wait for my working visa to be granted. And also, I need to finish my degree by July 2007.

It's the time of my life

I sat for my Taxation Law paper this morning. Needless to say, it was a killer. I went home to check the mailbox to check whether KPMG Singapore has delivered the parcel because my other friends got it already. There was a parcel for me by DHL Express, but to my disappointment it was from Monash Malaysia asking for money again for my Summer Semester course commencing in December.

After reading and filling in the Notice of Acceptance Form to be mailed back to Malaysia, I decided to take a nap. After a tiring night studying for the paper this morning, I was quite sleep-deprived. To my surprise, the concierge called the house and said that the parcel I collected was indeed for me, but it was left for me couple of weeks ago. The notice of DHL delivery that I got today was actually for another parcel that they just received today. Two parcels in a day! I knew it, what else can that be other than KPMG's offer letter. I quickly put on my shirt and hurried down to the lobby.

Employment Offer Letter has all the employment details if I join them. That includes remuneration, annual leave, medical benefits, insurance, travelling expenses, relocation expenses and things like that. The only turn off part of the letter is that I have to give them an answer by the 6th of November.

Many of you might think like "cheh, offer letter only mah...". To me, it is a big deal. All my life I've never thought that someone would want to hire me. The only person who would hire me because he has no choice, my Dad :) When I was young, I remember writing an essay on who I want to become in mandarin. I had no idea, so I asked the teacher to give some suggestions. She asked me what I like. I said MONEY. haha! Yes, I remember me saying that! That teacher immediately told me an occupation that I've never heard before, an "Accountant". I was only 9 years old.

When I was in high school, I gave no f*cks about my future. And look at me, most people who knew me back in high school would never expect me to be where I am right now. Some might even think that I'm going nowhere after high school. I know I have nothing to prove to them. To me, this job offer is such an achievement considering that I am not a hard working student.

So here I am, reading the letter over and over again. Trying to recall the process of how I got myself here. It is quite scary to think of it. Because time really flies!

There are to many things to be considered before signing the offer. I am not sure if I'm ready to leave Melbourne. Being here for 3 years made me feel that it has become my comfort zone. No snatch thieves, no gang fights, police petrolling every night in the city and of course, great friends that I've met in such short period of time. Most importantly, the person I love will still be here for another few years.

My 1 & only

This is the time of my life that I have to think properly. Every step I make affects my future. In other words, I'm actually 21 now and have to start planning my life. Sigh, I think I need alcohol :( Jonard, please save some Absinthe for me.

<<<<< THE LAW OF SEED >>>>>>>>

Take a look at an apple tree.
There might be five hundred apples on the tree, but each apple has just ten seeds.
That's a lot of seeds!

We might ask, "Why would you need so many seeds to grow just a few more apple trees?"
Nature has something to teach us here.
It's telling us: "Not all seeds grow. In life, most seeds never grow.

So if you really want to make something happen, you had better try
more than once."

This might mean:

You'll attend twenty interviews to get one job.
You'll interview forty people to find one good employee.
You'll talk to fifty people to sell one house, one car, one vacuum
cleaner, one insurance policy, or a business idea.
And you might meet a hundred acquaintances just to find one special
friend.

When we understand the "Law of the Seed", we don't get so disappointed.

We stop feeling like victims.
We learn how to deal with things that happen to us.

Laws of nature are not things to take personally. We just need to
understand them - and work with them.

IN A NUTSHELL

Successful people fail more often. But they plant more seeds.

When Things Are Beyond your control, here's something that you must NOT DO so as to avoid misery in your life:

You must not decide how you think the world SHOULD be.
You must not make rules for how everyone SHOULD behave.
Then, when the world doesn't obey your rules, you get angry!
That's what miserable people do!

On the other hand, let's say you expect that:

Friends SHOULD return favours.
People SHOULD appreciate you.
Planes SHOULD arrive on time.
Everyone SHOULD be honest.
Your husband or best friend SHOULD remember your birthday.

These expectations may sound reasonable. But often, these things won't happen!

So you end up frustrated and disappointed.

There's a better strategy. Demand less, and instead, have preferences!
For things that are beyond your control, tell yourself:

"I WOULD PREFER "A", BUT IF "B" HAPPENS, IT'S OK TOO!"

This is really a change in mindset. It is a shift in attitude, and it gives you more peace of mind ...

You prefer that people are polite ... but when they are rude, it doesn't ruin your day.
You prefer sunshine ... but if it rains, it is ok too!
To become happier, we either need to

a) Change the world, or
b) Change our thinking.
It is easier to change our Thinking!

IN A NUTSHELL
It is not the problem that is the issue, but rather it is your attitude attending to the problem that is the problem.
It's not what happens to you that determine your happiness.
It's how you think about what happens to you!

The Day I Turned 21

When I was a kid, I have always thought that I'll spend my 21st birthday with my family members. You know, nice fancy restaurant with all my relatives. Something like my farewell party before I left for Melbourne. Seriously, I had no idea that half the aunties and uncles that actually exist until that day. Anyway, of all people, my parents forgot my 21st birthday. Every year they will give me "more" in my bank account, but this year, they didn't even call to wish me. Well, at least my brother and sister made use of today's technology and the world's famous MSN messenger to wish me.

Khoa and Hien were stressing me about how tough Advance Financial Accounting Theory and Pratice will be in the finals. So right after the lecture, I went home to compile my notes, put everything together and started studying. Then....

SIL and BIL got me a shirt. I've decided to wear it on my first day of work at KPMG Singapore, that's if it still fits me.

The unforgettable cake from MC & Bi.

And then,

This beautiful young lady.

Threw me a surprise party.

Amelin was jealous of my special party hat.

According to the boys, birthday boy must crawl home on his birthday.

My second and third birthday cake.

And, friends who came

friends from primary school, high school and college.

The old ChilliMalam crew.

Sue Ann, Amelin, Christine, Jess and Vel

I'll fuck up Uni if it wasn't for these two. Khoa & Hien, who are also my longest local friends.

Christine the stout lover.

The Beach Boys. L-R: Azlan, Brian, Roland, Choon, Ruben.

Thank god for Sue Ann.

Final group picture.

After dinner, the boys went to Backpackers to grab "a few" drinks. I lost count on how many jars of beer we bought. They really made me so drunk that I couldn't even walk straight. Anyway, we managed to grab supper at Mr. Funny's Kebab after that. I reckon it's the best kebab in Melbourne.

When I got home, there were more surprises. MC, Bi and LiLin showed off their arts talent by making these:

Birthday gifts:

Tissue Swan from Tessa

Wine from Christine & Ken

Giant card from Vel

Card with my face and a gift from SueAnn

Chocolates from Tessa, Venessa, Annie and Jacey

Wrist watch from beloved LiLin.

It was a surprise party, so it doesn't mean that I don't like you if you're not invited. LiLin tried her best to call everyone but there are just too many numbers in my phone. Thank you to all who came, I really appreciate it. And to those who didn't, don't worry, you can always buy me a drink anytime :)

I am really happy to know that there are people who love and care for me so much. People that went through a tough time planning and organising things to make my 21st an unforgettable one. Thank you very much and I really appreciate it. You know who you are.
